UYAEC Releases Electoral Guidelines and Compliance Rules for Upcoming Umuelechi Youth Elections

UMUELECHI — The Umuelechi Youths Association Electoral Committee (UYAEC) has officially issued a public notice detailing the electoral processes, eligibility requirements, and strict compliance rules for its upcoming leadership elections.
According to the official announcement, the guidelines aim to ensure a peaceful, fair, and transparent democratic process under the association’s unifying slogan, “Let’s keep our association united, peaceful and focused on a better tomorrow.”
Requirements for Aspirants
The Electoral Committee has outlined six key qualifications that any individual seeking office within the Umuelechi Youths Association (UYA) must meet:

Age Requirement: Must be up to 20 years old.

Character Record: Must be free from any criminal record or activity.

Campaign Regulations: Strictly forbidden from campaigning on election day.

Membership Status: Must be a duly registered member of the UYA.

Anti-Cultism Clause: Must not belong to any secret society or cult group.

Indigeneship: Must be an indigene by birth, blood, and registration.
Voter Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the voting process, members must meet the following baseline criterion:

Age Limit: Eligible voters must be at least 16 years old.
The committee emphasized the importance of civic participation with the theme: “Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Future.”
Grounds for Disqualification
UYAEC warned that strict sanctions will be applied to aspirants who violate electoral conduct. Candidates will face immediate disqualification for any of the following offenses:

Engaging in physical fights or violent altercations with opponents.

Making malicious and illegal speeches targeting fellow aspirants.
The committee reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct detrimental to the peace of the community, reinforcing its stance: “No Violence, No Hate, Just Fair Elections.”
