ETCHE THRONE: SENATOR ALLWELL ONYESOH WARNS DESPERATE INDIVIDUALS, DECLARES MORATORIUM ON TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES
The Distinguished Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Chief Sen. Allwell Heacho Onyesoh, has issued a stern warning regarding attempts to manipulate succession to the ancient throne of the Late Ochie of Etche Land, His Eminence, Ochie E.N.B. Opurum, JP, MFR, GSSRS.
Expressing deep disappointment over premature maneuvers within the kingdom, Senator Onyesoh condemned individuals attempting to lay claim to or scheme for the stool before it has been officially declared vacant by the royal family and traditional council.
Preserving Sacred Traditions and Honoring the Late Monarch
Senator Onyesoh emphasized that the throne of Etche Land remains sacred and must not be compromised by political maneuvering or personal ambition.
To enforce proper protocol and respect during this period of grief, the Senator declared an immediate moratorium on all public traditional festivities and ceremonies throughout Etche land.

Key Directives & Direct Quotes
Alignment with Palace Authority: Senator Onyesoh fully endorsed the stance of the Royal Palace, mandating that all traditional celebrations—regardless of title or intent—must cease immediately across Etche land until the late monarch is laid to rest.
Warning to Contenders: Delivering a direct warning to ambitious individuals, Senator Onyesoh stated:
“I align myself with the decision of the Palace, that all forms of traditional celebrations, whatever name, whatever intention, should cease henceforth in Etche until our Monarch is buried. And any Etche son that tries to push himself to occupy what is not vacant, may he never sit there.”
Focus on Mourning: The lawmaker stressed that the present period must be dedicated entirely to honoring the legacy of the late Ochie of Etche Land, rather than engaging in power struggles over a stool that is not yet legally or culturally open for succession.
The restriction on traditional ceremonies will remain active until the royal family and the Etche Council of Chiefs formally conclude the official mourning period and announce subsequent traditional rites.
