In a renewed effort to foster peace and genuine political reconciliation across Rivers State, the member representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, led a high-powered delegation of members and stakeholders of the Rainbow Coalition on a visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Onyekachi Amaonwu, in Eberi, Omuma Local Government Area.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu explained that the peace mission was in line with direct directives from the National Leader of the Rainbow Coalition and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike. According to the lawmaker, the initiative aims to unite political actors, heal past divides, and promote lasting stability across the constituency and the broader state.
Hon. Nwogu emphasized that the peace drive is not confined to Omuma LGA alone, noting that similar reconciliation engagements are actively taking place across other local government areas in Rivers State.
Recalling events surrounding previous political tensions, Hon. Nwogu noted that HRM Eze Onyekachi Amaonwu had previously taken a opposing position against the Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike. However, he highlighted that in the spirit of forgiveness and leadership, Chief Wike chose to forgive and move forward, paving the way for the historic reconciliation visit to the traditional ruler’s palace.
